Apple Spice Hot Chocolate — The Ultimate Fall Drink Guide
Share
There's a short window every year when apple and cinnamon belong in everything. October Dream was built for exactly that window — but the combinations you can make with it extend far beyond a simple cup of hot chocolate.
What Makes October Dream Different
October Dream starts with raw cacao and adds real dried apple and real cinnamon. Not apple flavoring. Not cinnamon extract. Actual dried fruit and spice, which means the flavor develops as it steeps in warm milk rather than hitting you all at once and fading.
The result is a drink that's layered — cacao depth first, then warm spice, then a subtle apple sweetness that lingers. It's the kind of complexity you'd expect from a seasonal drink at a good café, not something you make in two minutes at home.
The Classic Version
Start here if you're new to October Dream. Warm 8 oz of whole milk until steaming, mix 2 tablespoons of the blend into a paste with a small amount of milk, add the rest and whisk. That's it. The spice balance is already dialed in — you don't need to add anything.
If you want to push the richness, swap in half heavy cream, half whole milk. The cinnamon becomes more prominent and the apple notes get rounder. It's a noticeably different drink — more indulgent, more complex, worth trying at least once.
The Apple Spice Latte
Pull a double shot of espresso. Make a half-serving of October Dream with 4 oz of steamed oat milk. Combine. No syrup needed — the blend provides its own sweetness and the espresso cuts through the cacao to create something that tastes like a proper seasonal café drink.
This is one of our favorite things to do with October Dream. The espresso and cinnamon combination is a natural pairing, and the apple notes add something that straight espresso drinks don't have.
Served Cold
Make a full serving using hot milk, let it cool slightly, then pour over ice. October Dream is one of the blends that works well cold — the apple flavor becomes more prominent when chilled, and the cinnamon provides enough warmth in the flavor profile that the drink doesn't feel like it's missing something without the heat.
For a stronger cold version, make it with half the milk and pour directly over a full glass of ice. The dilution from the melting ice brings it to the right strength.
With Whipped Cream
If you're making this for someone else or just want the full experience, a dollop of lightly sweetened whipped cream on top is the move. The cream melts slowly into the drink and changes the texture in a way that's genuinely satisfying. A small pinch of cinnamon on top is optional but finishing.
When to Drink It
October Dream is technically available year-round, but there's something about the combination of apple, cinnamon, and raw cacao that belongs to a specific time of year. The first morning when the air has real chill in it. The afternoon when you need something warm but not too heavy. The evening when you want something comforting without caffeine.
That's when October Dream earns its name.
